The FAU AIDS Committee will partner with FAU’s Student Health Advisory Council for its annual World AIDS Day program. The event will feature guest speaker Damaries “Dee” Cruz, a well-known AIDS educator in the Latino community in Miami. Cruz will share her experiences with this global epidemic impacting local neighborhoods and communities. The program also includes an art exhibit by local physician and award-winning artist Dr. Wilma Bulkin Siegel, who spent the years before her retirement painting portraits of her patients living and dying with HIV/AIDS.
FAU student winners of the 2008 literary and visual art competitions promoting AIDS awareness, prevention and HIV testing also will be honored. Refreshments will be served following the event.
